Mechatronics is a training program and partnership between MBUSI, Shelton State Community College, and the Alabama Industrial Development Training (AIDT). The Mechatronics program provides students with the cognitive and hands-on skills necessary to support the building of world class automobiles at Mercedes-Benz U.S. International in Vance, Alabama.

Mercedes-Benz (MBUSI) is home of the GLE-, GLS-, GLE Coupe SUV, Mercedes-Maybach GLS and future all-electric Mercedes-EQ models, the EQE SUV and EQS SUV, starting in 2022.

Industrial Mechatronics Program

  • Earn an Associates Degree of Applied Science in Industrial Electronics and a Short Certificate in Industrial Maintenance.
  • Attend School at Shelton State Community College (2 years and 1 semester).
  • Class days are: Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday. Work days are Friday and possibly Saturday.

Application Process / Key Points

  • You must apply to the school first before completing an application for the programs. Your student ID is required on the application. All applicants must continue to complete their enrollment process with the school. Receiving your student ID is just the first step.
  • Make sure that all of your contact information is correct and up to date. Throughout the selection process, the primary source for communicating with potential candidates is through email.
  • For those who meet the qualifications to participate in the selection process, more information will be available prior to the first assessment.

Additional Details

  • As a student in the technical program, you are an employee of ONIN Staffing, a staffing agency utilized by Mercedes-Benz U.S. International, Inc. (MBUSI). The program is administered by Mercedes-Benz U.S. International, Inc.
  • The program is a full-time student program. Students are required to work every week; however, the amount of working hours are limited. (Outside if the standard requirement to work every week, additional work is possible depending on students overall GPA.)
  • The program requires shift work. Please consider this before applying. You will be expected to rotate shifts and work on the production line.
  • Students will be paid for all hours worked at the plant at a rate of $17.00 per hour.
  • Compensation increased at 3rd and 6th terms.
